If you can plan outings with your friends that don't involve unhealthy food, that's even better. Make sure that the people you surround yourself with respect your choices and support you in them.

These people know what you're going through, and can offer you ideas from 'inside the trenches' that may work better than the tips you read from the so-called experts. They can offer answers to your questions as well, and be a much needed resource for you.

3. Start exercising. Many people think they can just cut out a few foods and that their body will start dropping weight. It's not that easy. In most cases, you need to pair a good diet with a healthy exercise regime. There are a lot of exercises and ways to be active, so choose something you like to do and can see yourself doing a few times a week. If you get active and have some kind of workout routine, you are going to find that you lose weight faster than you would have otherwise.

4. Remember why you want to lose weight. This can be a great source of motivation when you just want to eat some pie and some ice cream. If you always keep in mind why you want to lose weight, you can fight cravings.
